Managing Chronic Stress

Chronic Stress is when we experience a stressor for a prolonged period of time. Sometimes we don’t even know we are stressed, yet our body might develop physical symptoms that tell us we are stressed (Learn more about the science here). Chronic stress may never go away, but we can learn how to be in relationship to stress in a more symbiotic way.

Meditation won’t make stress magically go away, but consistent meditation has been proven to help support neurological and physiological attributes that help us manage stress:

  • Reduce blood pressure

  • Decrease inflammation

  • Improve sleep

  • Increase focus

  • Shrink the amygdala (fear center of the brain)

  • Support emotional equanimity
